Now that the NFL season is long over, the glee from the Patriots defeat is finally starting to lessen. Thinking about Eli Manning and 18-1 and Bill Belichick after sorely after losing XLII still makes me smile, but I no longer recount the Giants amazing victory on a daily basis. However, some less fortunate people in the world are finally reaping joy from the Pats’ loss.
Thus, this post will mark my last piling on of the 2007 Super Bowl Runners-Up New England Patriots, the only 18-1 team to not win the Super Bowl. Their much anticipated Reebok officially licensed Super Bowl Champion t-shirt (with 19-0 emblazoned across the front) was finally released to the public earlier this week; that is the public of Nicaragua. Yes, all of the preproduced Pats champs gear was shipped to Nicaragua to clothe that countries poor.
I’m sure this post trivializes world poverty, but there is a visceral pleasure that comes from seeing these totems for the perfect season that wasn’t shipped off to be forgotten about in the 3rd world.
And if you think I am a cruel person for posting this, keep in mind that this story and a full photo gallery of Pats t-shirts/apparels was found at NYPost.com. Apparently, Rupert Murdoch’s NY tabloid also gets off on schaudenfreude.
